Even though the weather the last few days reminds me more of summer time back home in Indiana, there are definite signs that fall is not far away. Yesterday marked the first soccer practice for G-Money (the "Saga of how G-Money got his Moniker" will be forthcoming). This will be his second season of outdoor soccer. As I was on duty, I was not able to be there, but E said that he enjoyed himself and did great.
When they arrived, the coach's older team was there getting ready to practice as well. She said it was funny to watch the older boys telling the younger guys how tough the coach is and that he makes them run until their tired. Then another boy says that they run until they throw up. E said at this, she could see G-Money's eyes getting wider and wider. As practice started, the coach told the boys that they were going to run and if anyone stopped running before they were finished, the whole team would run some more. She said that she was very proud of G, because he ran the whole time. Being an 8 year old, sometimes, his attention span is not the longest. He even had so much fun at practice that he then ran 10 laps around our cul-de-sac after getting home. T went with them and observed practice. Being the older sister and soccer player in her own right, she has become G's "personal soccer trainer extraordinaire". Watching gave her some ideas on what to help him practice.
Even though the season is still about a month away, it feels good to get back into the rhythm of Fall events.
